Membership

Membership is available to individuals aged 12 and above who are passionate about promoting civic engagement among immigrant families and empowering children from these backgrounds to make positive contributions to their communities and society at large.

Interested individuals can join JADE through three avenues: by becoming a general member, pursuing a position on the executive board, or engaging as an advisory member.

General Membership

As a JADE member, you will enjoy exclusive benefits such as access to members-only events, discounts, priority registration, and valuable resources. Moreover, your membership plays a crucial role in supporting JADE's operational expenses, helping us stay aligned with our mission and goals.

Youth: Free

The youth are the driving force for positive change in our future. Young individuals aged 12 to 24 have the opportunity to join JADE and take part in engagement activities and community events, all at no cost.

Adult: $25

For only $25 per year, individuals aged 25 and above can enjoy the exclusive benefits of JADE general membership.

JADE is committed to transparency. All members (including youth and adult members) are entitled to receive JADE's annual reports, including a detailed financial summary.

To join, complete this brief application form and submit the necessary membership fee. After our treasurer verifies your application details and payment, you will be sent a welcome email confirming your official membership.

EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBERSHIP

The affairs of JADE are managed by the Executive Board, comprising up to 16 members. Of these member positions, up to four positions are reserved for youth aged 14-18 years.

Board membership depends on the availability of positions each year. In the first quarter each year, the Board determines the number of openings for both youth and adult members. When vacancies are identified, a call for board member applications is announced on JADE's website.

The board member selection at JADE is conducted through a voting process by all adult board members. Candidates who secure the most votes and majority support from these members will be appointed to the Board. Each elected youth or adult member will receive a formal letter outlining their term length and responsibilities.

Youth elected to the board are exempt from financial contributions to JADE. Their board membership concludes either when they turn 18 or choose to resign.

Adult members elected to the board must contribute a one-time fee of $200 to JADE. Emphasizing shared leadership, these adult members are expected to take turns in senior roles, such as Co-Chair and Executive Co-Chair. They are expected to be actively involved in JADE's decision-making, influencing and contributing to all major decisions undertaken by JADE.

ADVISORY MEMBERSHIP

This membership is exclusively by invitation and is limited to adults aged 18 and above. Serving a maximum term of 10 years, advisory members are responsible for providing expert consultations that guide the decision-making process of the Executive Board.
