Background of JADE

Joint Action for Diversity and Engagement (JADE) is a nonprofit corporation designated as a 501(c)(3) organization. It is established exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. The mission of JADE is to foster civic engagement among immigrant families and support children from these families in making positive contributions to their communities and the greater society. This mission is anchored in four organization goals: building community bridges, promoting diversity and inclusion, fostering civic learning and engagement, and championing youth movements. Executive Board Management and Vacancies

The management of JADE's affairs is overseen by its Executive Board, comprising up to 16 members. This includes a maximum of four positions reserved for youth members aged between 14 to 18 years. In the spring of 2024, JADE seeks to recruit two additional adult board members, as well as four youth board members.

Application Requirements

Candidates who wish to apply must submit the application form by 5 PM Central Time on Friday, February 9, 2024, including the following details:

  • Full name and email address.
  • Any relevant experience in volunteering and community services.
  • Reasons for seeking a position on JADE's Executive Board.
  • Preferred goals and activities you’d like to focus on if elected.

Selection Procedure

Candidates for the Board are chosen by a voting process conducted among the current adult board members. Those who receive the highest number of votes and majority support from these members will be officially appointed to the Board. Applicants will be notified about the selection results by 5 PM Central Time on Friday, March 1, 2024.

Terms and Responsibilities

Adult Board Members are expected to:

  • Make a minimum financial contribution of $200 to JADE.
  • Rotate through senior roles, including Co-Chair and Executive Co-Chair positions, actively engaging in decision-making.
  • Serve a ten-year term.

Youth Members are exempt from financial contributions. They may serve on the board until their high school graduation or opt to resign earlier if they choose.
